Take notes of the questions you asked and bring them with you on your stay. It is always advisable to call prior to your stay to ensure the accessible room you booked will be available on your arrival.

 

Some questions to ask Hotels

·         What level are the accessible bedrooms on? Is there a lift to the bedroom?

·         Does the bedroom have a wider entry door and bathroom door? Are they easy to open?

·         On arrival can I be provided with a familiarisation tour of Hotel common areas and bedroom?

·         Is there space on each side of the bed to turn a wheelchair?

·         What is the bed height?

·         Are there low level counters in the bedroom?

·         Are there low hanging spaces in the wardrobe?

·         Is there a roll in the shower area?

·         Are there grab bars in the bathroom?

·         Is the bathroom in the bedroom wide enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair?

·         If the reception counter is not at a low level can I be provided with a table and chair at reception?

·         Is the accessible toilet in the reception/bar & restaurant areas wide enough to turn a wheelchair?

·         Are the common areas all on the same level or is there ramped access / lift access to some?

·         Are the menus available in large print/braille?
